Edouard Vuillard

Édouard Vuillard (1868-1940) was a french post impressionist painter and member of the Symbolist group « Les Nabis ». Many of his paintings depict interior and domesstic scenes, which served equally as a symbol for the interior self and led him to be considered also as an « intimist » painter alongside the artist Pierre Bonnard. Vuillard’s painting is characterised by a certain flatness in his application of colour and pattern around his figurative subjects.
