Dans une perspective animée, des bourgeois parcourent une promenade en front de mer, l’un d’eux serait d’ailleurs le dramaturge Henri Bernstein. C’est un spectacle banal et quotidien, mais les rues grises et mornes sont cependant surplombées d’affiches tapageuses. On comprend aisément pourquoi Raoul Dufy s’y intéressa: leurs tonalités vives ont tout simplement retenu le regard de ce grand coloriste. Dufy n’a pas hésité à utiliser une palette affirmée et vive, ainsi son ralliement au mouvement fauviste ainsi que sa future voie décorative.
