Françoise de Longwy, épouse de l'amiral Philippe Chabot (veuve en 1543)

Françoise de Longwy, wife of Philippe Chabot, or simply Françoise de Longwy, is a painting by Corneille de Lyon. It has a dark blue background. There are two versions, one of which is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and measures 15cm high by 12cm wide. The other is in the Musée National du Château de Versailles and measures 16cm high and 13cm wide. The portrait of Françoise de Longwy is certified by two drawings of the admiral kept at the Musée Condé in Chantilly (cat. Broglie, nos 266 and 292). This portrait is mentioned in correspondence between Coulanges and Gaignières, along with a replica, since both personalities had one. This replica may be the one kept at the Château de Versailles, which is similar in quality to the original. It is distinguished by the inscription at the top saying "MADAME [...]
