Montagne Sainte-Victoire vue de Bellevue is an oil painting on canvas. As its title suggests, it depicts Mont Sainte-Victoire.
In the foreground, we see dark green and yellow-orange vegetation with a few ochre houses and cereal fields to the left of the houses.
In the background, we can see houses at the foot of the mountain and the Arc valley viaduct to the right of the painting.
And finally, in the background, we see Mont Sainte-Victoire with touches of greenery, red and ochre, and the blue sky covered with a few clouds on the sides of the mountain. Paul Cézanne painted Sainte-Victoire in many of his pictures.
Paul Cézanne painted the work around 1885. Cézanne was living in Gardanne, near Aix-en-Provence. Mont Sainte-Victoire, which stands out against the surrounding landscape, can be seen from his house. He depicted it in nearly 80 works, half of them in watercolour.
