Joan of Arc entering Orléans, 8 May 1429 is a painting by Henry Scheffer, painted in 1843. It is one of the works on display in the Gallery of Battles at the Château de Versailles in France. Entrée de Jeanne d'Arc à Orléans is an oil on canvas, 4.25 m high and 4.83 m long. It depicts a scene from the end of the siege of Orléans in 1429. The work is located in the Battle Gallery at the Château de Versailles. As the paintings in the gallery are arranged in chronological order, it is placed between those depicting the Battle of Cocherel (1364) and the Battle of Castillon (1453). In 1833, King Louis-Philippe, who had been in power for 3 years, decided to convert the Château de Versailles into a French historical museum. The Gallery of Battles was inaugurated in 1837, with 33 monumental canvases depicting military episodes from French history. Henry Scheffer painted the canvas in 1843.
