Jean-François Portaels : his life as an artist

Jean-François Portaels began his artist training in The Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium, Brussels, Belgium. Then Jean-François Portaels continue his training and study with Paul Delaroche, François-Joseph Navez. Among his students and apprentices, we noted that he taught Theo van Rysselberghe, Xavier Mellery, Jan Toorop, Fernand Cormon, Emile Wauters, Léon Frédéric, Jacques de Lalaing, Andre Collin.
