Soutine seated at a table is a 92 × 60 cm oil painting on canvas produced in 1916 by the Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani.
It is on display at the National Gallery of Art in Washington. It depicts Chaïm Soutine, a Russian painter and friend of Modigliani.
The model's clothes are dishevelled, and the facial features are very pronounced. The eyes, usually left white in Modigliani's painted work, are worked on here. Half-closed, they perhaps suggest the despair and distress of both the Russian painter and Modigliani, "cursed" artists, penniless and living in Paris.
