Cheval gris

Cheval arabe gris-blanc, also known as Grey-White Horse, is an oil-on-canvas painting by the French painter Théodore Géricault, painted in 1812 and housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen. It depicts an Arabian horse in profile, facing left. The painting depicts a horse seen in profile, with its head turned to the left, painted very vigorously and in full light, standing out against a well-detailed brown-black wall background on the left of the canvas, which disappears into the darkness on the right. The painting was bought for 600 francs by Mr Reiset, and sold for the same price to the Musée des Beaux-Arts in [...]
