François Gérard began his artist training in Beaux-Arts de Paris, France. Then François Gérard continue his training and study with Jacques-Louis David, Augustin Pajou, Nicolas Guy Brenet. He became friend or had a working relationship with Charles de Steuben. He influenced the work of some other artists such as Ary Scheffer.
