Johan Christian Dahl, known as well with the following name Johan Christian Claussen Dahl, is a norwegian painter born in 1788 in Bergen, Norway and who died in 1857 in Dresden, Germany. Johan Christian Dahl belonged to the romanticism art style. He mainly worked during the classical period in the 19 century.

Johan Christian Dahl : his life as an artist

Johan Christian Dahl began his artist training in Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, Denmark. Then Johan Christian Dahl continue his training and study with Christian August Lorentzen. He became friend or had a working relationship with Caspar David Friedrich. Among his students and apprentices, we noted that he taught Thomas Fearnley, Peder Balke.
