Hieronymous Bosch (1450-1516) was a Dutch painter who remains today one of the most renowned artists of Early Flemish Art, and indeed all of art history. Hsi paintings had a profound influence on artistic movements such as Surrealism, five hundred years after his death.

Not much is known about Bosch’s life or artistic training, although it is presumed he studied under the tutelage of his grandfather and father, both of whom were also artists. His oevre consists of thirty works, all undated.  They range in subject from biblical themed landscapes – the most famous being ‘the Garden of Earthly Delights’ – to imaginative apocalyptic depictions of hell, filled with intense symbolic narratives.
