Le printemps

Spring is a painting (86x111 cm) produced between 1868 and 1876 by the painter Jean-François Millet. It is in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. It is the first of a cycle of paintings on the four seasons, commissioned in 1868 by the collector Frédéric Hartmann. The four paintings are now in various museums: The depiction of the landscape shows the lyrical style that characterises the artist's painting, influenced by the work of John Constable and especially the Dutchman Jacob van [...]
