Louveciennes. Sentier de la Mi-Côte dit autrefois Hauteurs de Marly
Louveciennes. Sentier de la Mi-côte, whose former titles are Hauteurs de Marly, ferme de mi-côte and Louveciennes, hauteurs de Marly, is a painting by Alfred Sisley. Until 1937, it was in the collection of Antonin Personnaz, who bequeathed it to the Musées nationaux for the Musée du Louvre. It is currently at the Musée d'Orsay. Painted in Louveciennes, it is reproduced on the site where it was created.
It is an oil on canvas measuring 38 × 46.5 cm: "The play of diagonals linked to the ramp, the crest of the trees on the hillside and the roofs, directs the eye towards the Seine valley, whose appearance is rendered vaporous. The autumnal colours and tones of the tiles lend a softness to this figuration. "
Painted in Louveciennes, it is reproduced at the place of its creation on a route of the Pays des Impressionnistes.
The farm, which used to be a forge, has been abandoned. Damaged by a landslide in 1983, it is now the subject of a restoration project. The atmosphere of the place, bathed in humidity and lush vegetation, is strange. The plaque bearing the reproduction is located between the music pavilion and the old buildings of the Marly [...]
