Antonio Canaletto was born on October 18, 1697 in Venice. Antonio Canaletto is one of the major artists of Italian painting. In his painting, he transmitted his passion for his native city and the Vedutist movement sensitivity as well as a more accurate representation of light. His father was an artist and passed on to him his passion for painting. He also began his artistic in his studio. Quickly, he executed works for a wealthy British client such as the reception of the French ambassador in the ducal palace, the Riva degli Schiavoni and English views. Canaletto is considered to be a very active painter who inspired other artists such as Joseph Mallord William Turner. Antonio Canaletto died on April 19, 1768 in Venice.
