Ilya Répine began his artist training in Imperial Academy of Arts, Saint Petersburg, Russie. Then Ilya Répine continue his training and study with Ivan Kramskoi. He became friend or had a working relationship with Vassili Polenov, Mykola Murashko. He influenced the work of some other artists such as Vasily Surikov.
