Franz Marc canvas prints & artprints
Franz Marc was born on Febuary, 8, 1880 in Munich. Franz Marc grew up in an artistic environment, his father and his grandfather also being painters. In 1900, he entered the beaux-arts academy where he experimented symbolism and impressionism. Around 1912, his work - still figurative- is characterize by a wide range of coloursthrough which he tries to detach himself from three-dimensionality. Gradually, human representations disappeared from his work and were replaced by colourful animal representations, mainly of horses, and landscapes. Animals became his favourite models, their representation allowed him to express his deep fascination for nature. In these same years, Franz Marc actively participated in the work of the Blaue Reiter and the NKV alongside artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and August Macke. Around 1914, the painter showed a clear tendency towards abstraction, no doubt under the influence of Kandinsky. Franz Marc died on March 4, 1916 in Baquis in the Meuse during the Battle of Verdun.
